The new grandstand at Carlaw Park was opened by the Governor
General, Lord Bledisloe. These games were played that day,
including Ponsonby's 16 -4 win over Richmond. In 1937, the
ARL embarked on an ambitious project of sending six club teams
to various parts of the North Island in an effort to "spread the
gospel". Ponsonby went by train to Wellington where they
drew 20 - all with St George.
Ponsonby's first meeting with a Sydney team, going down 26 - 13
to Western Suburbs.
1940 The first club reunion was held at the PURL Hall in Curran
Street on 27 July.
